Prompt Pay makes it to the World Series!

Our win in today's Insurance Committee was a team effort. Bill author and House Human Services Chairman Todd Hunter (R-Corpus Christi) did an excellent job in presenting the bill, HB 2292. Next at bat was Bill Moore, RPh, an APRx member, former AIP chairman,  former TPA president, and owner of several pharmacies in Sinton, Beeville, and Corpus Christi. His first-hand testimony carried a lot of weight with the committee.

I was next at bat, testifying on behalf of TPBC. I focused on the lone holdout, Express Scripts, and their opposition piece in my testimony. Our rebuttal is in red.

The cheers from our members--all of you who called committee members--gave our team a big edge.

All our information was well received. Due to some late changes in the bill's wording, it was not ready for a vote, but we went ahead with the testimony. Insurance Committee Chairman John Smithee (R-Amarillo) told Chairman Hunter that he would leave the bill pending while some paperwork was completed and the committee would vote the bill out of the insurance committee in a few days.

The bill will then move to the House Calendars committee to be scheduled for floor action. Oh, did I tell you that our bill sponsor also is Calendars chairman?

Today was a good day. Stay tuned!
